Week of March 10th: Sabbath

By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.  Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Genesis 2:2-3

HAPPY SPRING BREAK SEASON! Many of you have been enjoying spring break last week, some this coming week, and unfortunately, if you are like me, you still have another week before you get a break… Spring break is an exciting time as there is so many options for what to do! Maybe you are going on a trip, going home to spend time with family, applying for jobs if you are a senior, or maybe you are getting a head start on end of the semester projects! Luckily, I am going to get the best of both worlds by going on a road trip to Indiana to see one of my dear friends and get a nice break at home working on the farm. I am so excited as I am FINALLY finishing up the road trip plan and booking an Airbnb for the way out there since I am taking a scenic route. When I was making this plan, I realized that I am going to have three days where I will basically be driving all day! This didn’t seem like much of a break to me (even though I love driving), so in my itinerary I scheduled in one day that I am in Indiana where I am going to sleep in, read a Christian book, write some more of these devotions, and maybe hit up a coffee shop. This day is going to be dedicated to resting, getting closer to the Lord, and refreshing my soul. My Sabbath. Similar to the one God took on the seventh day. In college, it is tough to get a day off and sometimes even an hour to dedicate to your faith, but taking a Sabbath is so important to keep growing in your faith and refreshing your soul during trying times. No matter how busy you feel, taking a Sabbath is going to be worth it in the long term and anyway its Spring Break, you deserve it!!!

Challenge:

No matter what you have going on this week take some time even it is only an hour to get your Seventh Day. Make your Sabbath a priority. It will amaze you how much closer you can get to God when you set aside time to do it.
