Week of February 3: Healing

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3

This past summer, when I was coming home from Kansas FFA State Convention, I had severe pain in the left quadrant of my stomach. That led to an emergency room visit that night, two doctor’s appointments that week, and a week not leaving my bed. Eventually, it was concluded that I probably had an ovarian cyst, but I was not getting better. So many doctor visits, so many calls to my boss saying I couldn’t come back to work yet, and so many nights crying myself to sleep. After a month of this, it had taken a toll on my body physically and mentally, so I decided to begin a prayer journal. I prayed to God for the healing of my body and my heart. Slowly, with a change in diet, lots of fresh air, more rest, and so many prayers I was getting better. God had healed my body and my heart. Although I was disappointed I could not work and have much fun that summer, through the pain, God had strengthened my faith in him and without those challenges, I probably wouldn’t be writing this devotional. No matter the healing that you need, physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, God can bring it to you. With unrelenting faith, prayer, and making our healing a priority, we can overcome the greatest challenges presented to us.

Challenge: Find a journal or a piece of paper and write down what healing you need right now and some first steps you can do to find that healing
