But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
Jerimiah 17:7-8
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.
I absolutely love my planner! It helps keep me organized and on track each and every day. On Sunday evenings, I take out my planner and look over everything that I have going on that week and everything that I have to do. It is so empowering to feel like I have control over my life. But then we get to Tuesday and the weekend plans are scrapped and my meeting on Thursday got moved up so now it overlaps with the other meeting that I have already rescheduled 3 times. How my week looks on Sunday evening is never how it actually is. Sometimes it really bothers me because my schedule is perfect in my eyes, but then it all gets messed up. What I often fail to see is it’s all in God’s hands. This is something that I have continually struggled with due to my desire to plan everything. Constantly, in my life, I plan things and it doesn’t turn out how I think it should whether that is leadership positions, relationships, class schedules, scholarships, and so much more. When these things don’t turn out, I often ask “why” when really, I should be trusting what the Lord is doing. In the times when things are not turning out in our favor, we need to put our confidence in the Lord. God will hold you up through the storms and the droughts. If something we have planned does not turn out, it means that God has something even better planned for us, and if we would have gotten what we thought we needed we would be settling. Let’s not settle.
Challenge: This week, pray for confidence and peace in God’s plan.
